Will History Repeat Itself?
August is historically one of the best months on the calendar where interest rates consistently improve. 15 of the last 17 Augusts we have seen improvements in the bond market which correlate directly to lower interest rates. This time of the year typically brings a lower trading volume which increases the appetite for investment in safer securities. An added benefit this year is there will be no Federal Reserve meeting this month, which minimizes the distractions from the headline news that often slows momentum in the market. Keeping all this in mind while also recognizing the overall economy seems to be improving should make for an interesting month.
